RVNL won a ₹2,977 crore NMDC logistics project in Visakhapatnam to build a high-capacity stockyard and blending facility.
New Delhi
Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has secured a major infrastructure contract worth Rs 2,977 crore from state-owned mining major NMDC Limited for the development of a large-scale logistics facility at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
According to an exchange filing, the project involves setting up a buffer stockyard and a blending yard with a material handling capacity of 10 million tonnes per annum (MTPA). The facility is expected to enhance NMDC’s logistics efficiency and streamline the handling of iron ore and other raw materials at the Visakhapatnam port.
RVNL confirmed that it has received the Letter of Award for the project and stated that the contract was awarded in the normal course of business by a domestic entity. The company clarified that the agreement does not involve any related-party transactions and that neither its promoters nor group companies have any financial interest in NMDC.
The project is scheduled to be completed within 42 months from the date of award. Once operational, the facility is expected to significantly improve storage, blending and transportation capabilities, ensuring better quality control and more efficient supply chain operations for NMDC.
Buffer stockyards and blending yards are critical components in mining logistics, enabling companies to manage raw material inventories, maintain consistent quality standards and ensure uninterrupted supply to end users. The new facility at Visakhapatnam is expected to support NMDC’s expanding operational needs and strengthen its export and domestic distribution network.
Rail Vikas Nigam Limited, a Navratna Central Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Railways, continues to play a key role in executing large-scale railway and infrastructure projects across India. The latest contract further adds to its growing order book and reinforces its position in the infrastructure development space.
