BJP MLA from Shirahatti constituency Dr. Chandru Lamani has strongly denied allegations of cross-voting in the recent Legislative Council elections, calling the reports false and misleading.

Addressing the media, Lamani said that unnecessary rumours were being spread about his role in alleged cross-voting and insisted that he had strictly followed the party whip issued during the elections. He said the Bharatiya Janata Party had clearly instructed its legislators to vote for NDA candidates, and he had adhered to those directions without deviation.

Lamani explained that the party had prepared a structured voting plan for its MLAs and ensured clear instructions regarding candidate selection. He said that despite this, his name was being unnecessarily linked to allegations of cross-voting, which he described as baseless and damaging to his reputation.

He expressed disappointment over what he termed as unverified media reports and said such claims were causing embarrassment without any supporting evidence. He urged media organisations and political circles to avoid spreading or amplifying such allegations without confirmation.

The MLA reiterated that he had exercised his vote in accordance with the party’s official directive and had not engaged in any activity that violated party discipline. He further said that attributing wrongdoing to him based on assumptions was unfair and misleading.

Lamani appealed to political opponents and media outlets not to misuse his name for sensational reporting and to respect factual accuracy in covering electoral developments.

The controversy comes amid ongoing discussions around alleged cross-voting incidents during the Legislative Council elections, which have triggered political debate within the state. However, Lamani maintained that he had acted in full compliance with party instructions throughout the process.
