NEW DELHI

India is making a major push to bring Formula 1 racing back to the country by 2028. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has officially created a special task force to monitor domestic motorsports and guide this ambitious dream back to reality.

The excitement builds following a high-level meeting in New Delhi between sports officials and the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI). Alongside F1, federation president Arindam Ghosh revealed ongoing plans to bring a round of the World Rally Championship and MotoGP back to Indian tracks within the next few years. The government heavily stressed the need to support local drivers and upgrade racing infrastructure across the country.

While planning for the future, the FMSCI also celebrated the present by hosting its glittering Annual Awards night in Bengaluru. The federation handed out 137 trophies to the country’s 2025 national champions. The night highlighted incredible young talent, including nine-year-old Arshi Gupta, who bagged a special medal for national karting.

International trailblazers were also honored for putting India on the global racing map. These included Naveen Puligilla and Musa Sherif, who secured a historic podium finish at the World Rally Championship in Saudi Arabia, and Aishwarya Pissay, the first Indian woman to win a major world championship round in Portugal.

With the government and racing officials officially joining forces, India is building a structured pathway to welcome back elite motorsport events and inspire a new generation of speed champions.
