Arshdeep Singh highlighted the physical toll of extreme weather on players, crediting the support staff for recovery ahead of upcoming tours to Ireland and England.
CHENNAI
Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh revealed that the previous match against Afghanistan took a massive physical toll on the players. Speaking ahead of the final game in Chennai, he explained how the intense heat and humidity forced the squad to adapt their routines.
According to Arshdeep, the severe weather conditions in Lucknow meant that preparation had to be balanced with smart physical recovery. Instead of a standard practice session, each team member trained according to their individual physical needs. While some players pushed through workouts, others stayed back to rest and rebuild their energy.
The left-arm pacer gave immense credit to the team’s medical and sports science staff for keeping everyone match-ready. He noted that staying hydrated requires a proactive approach, meaning players must start drinking fluids a full day before stepping onto the field. Regular massages and specialized physical priming sessions also played a major role in keeping the athletes fit.
Although Arshdeep is resting for the final match, he is already looking ahead to the upcoming short-format tours of Ireland and England. The young bowler expressed great confidence in his current rhythm and stated that he is having fun on the field.
To prepare for the upcoming T20 matches, Arshdeep is focusing heavily on refining his trademark yorkers. He aims to master the final overs of the game, restrict opposing batsmen, and secure crucial wickets for his country during the international summer.
