Local police successfully arrested a fugitive sales manager who had been on the run after allegedly embezzling ₹2 crore from a prominent residential housing society project. The accused had managed to evade the authorities for a week before a coordinated raid cut his run short.
The trouble began at the ‘Ganga Fernhill’ housing project in Pune. Senior Sales Manager Simon Ronnie Peter was trusted with managing flat sales for four major residential buildings. According to a police complaint filed by company official Kiran Dadasaheb Shinde, Peter secretly diverted booking payments away from the official corporate accounts. Instead, he channeled the cash into a fake private bank account belonging to an associate named B. Chandrashekhar, tricking 32 innocent homebuyers in the process.
Following a formal police complaint filed on June 9, Peter went completely off the grid and switched off his mobile phone. However, investigators tracked his movements to Nashik. Pune police immediately alerted local Senior Inspector Ashok Sharmale for backup. Acting on a sharp tip-off, a specialized crime team learned that the fugitive had quietly checked into Room 301 at the Hotel Treebo Sapphire on Gangapur Road.
A swift raid caught the suspect completely off guard. Officers arrested Peter on the spot and safely handed him over to Pune police detectives for further legal action. The successful joint operation highlights the quick coordination between state police units to protect citizens from real estate fraud.
