Intro
Hulasur residents face severe hardship due to pothole-ridden roads, demanding urgent repairs and improved rural infrastructure development.
Hulasur
Residents of Hulasur taluk headquarters in Bidar district are facing severe difficulties due to deteriorating road infrastructure, with pothole-filled and poorly maintained roads making daily travel increasingly unsafe and challenging.
Key routes such as the Basavakalyan–Bhalki State Highway and the Bidar–Latur National Highway, along with several interior village roads including Devanal–Machanal, Devanal–Mirkhal, Muchalamb–Gadirayapalli, Hulasur–Muchalamb, and Togalur–Muchalamb, are reported to be in extremely poor condition. In many stretches, the asphalt layer has completely eroded, leaving deep potholes and uneven surfaces that pose risks to motorists and pedestrians.
Villagers say connecting roads to settlements such as Hanumanwadi, Mirkhal, Kothmal, and Anandwadi have remained neglected for years despite repeated complaints. Similarly, roads in Saygaon Hobli, including Shrimali–Alwai, Shrimali–Kongli, and Manikeshwar–Alwai, have deteriorated due to lack of maintenance.
Farmers are among the worst affected, as damaged rural roads like Mehkar–Narad Sangam–Bolegaon and Belur–Gutti make it difficult to transport agricultural produce to markets. The poor condition of roads has also impacted emergency services, with ambulances reportedly struggling to reach patients on time.
Residents have also raised concerns over roads damaged during Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) utility works, alleging that many excavated stretches were not properly restored. Several internal streets in Hulasur town remain open with pits and uneven surfaces, which become more dangerous during the monsoon when filled with rainwater.
In addition, overgrown vegetation and thorny bushes along roadside stretches have reduced visibility at curves and junctions, further increasing the risk of accidents.
Local citizens have expressed frustration over what they describe as repeated neglect by elected representatives and authorities. They allege that promises made during elections regarding road development have not been fulfilled.
Residents are now urging immediate intervention from the administration to repair damaged roads, restore utility-affected stretches, and clear roadside vegetation to ensure safer and smoother transportation across Hulasur taluk.
