Guruprasad said education cannot be bought with money, urging students to achieve it through discipline, effort, and dedication
MANDYA
Senior advocate M Guruprasad has said that students who work hard during crucial academic stages like SSLC and PUC can secure success and happiness throughout their lives. He was speaking after inaugurating the Ankaveera Award ceremony and a felicitation programme for achievers in various fields organised by Kasturi Sirigannada Vedike at Seva Kiran Old Age Home in Mandya.
Guruprasad said that while money can buy many things in today’s world, education cannot be purchased and is achieved only through discipline, effort, and dedication. He stressed that lazy behaviour prevents learning and urged students to understand the true value of education.
He advised students to treat books as guides for life and said that consistent effort during school and college years can shape a secure future for the next several decades. He warned that negligence during student life could lead to continuous struggle in later years and encouraged students to focus seriously on their studies at the right age.
Guruprasad also suggested a balanced daily routine of eight hours of study, eight hours of rest, and eight hours of physical activity, saying that overburdening oneself with studies can affect health. He encouraged students to build self-confidence and learn from the life stories of great leaders. He also said that adopting the ideals of the 12th century Sharan tradition of Basavanna can help build a strong and balanced society.
Social worker Chondamma Poornachandra from Mysuru, who gave the introductory speech, expressed concern over the increasing use of mobile phones among children and advised parents to guide their children in using them responsibly.
Dr H C Anand, who spoke after presenting awards, said that students aiming for technical education must secure high marks to obtain government seats, otherwise families may face financial burden due to donations and loans. During the programme, 16 achievers were presented with the Kasturi Siri Ratna Award, while 8 students who excelled in SSLC and PUC examinations received the Ankaveera Award.
Organisers said the main objective of the event was to encourage meritorious students and motivate them to continue academic excellence. Several dignitaries including Seva Kiran Old Age Home trustee G V Kumar, R Yogananda, C J Sujatha Krishna, K Manjula Ramesh, and others were present at the programme.
