Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi announced that her upcoming diplomatic tour to the United Kingdom, Italy, and France, marking her highly anticipated debut at the G7 Summit.
The tour aims to secure stronger international alliances regarding energy security, supply chain resilience, and critical minerals.
Before arriving in France for the Evian Summit, Takaichi will hold bilateral talks with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The leaders are scheduled to address pressing geopolitical crises across East Asia, the Middle East, and Ukraine.
Additionally, discussions will focus heavily on bolstering mutual ties in advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, semiconductors, space exploration, and quantum tech.
As a new face at the G7 table, Takaichi expressed her desire to lead the international community through unity. She plans to present three distinct energy security proposals to combat unfair export restrictions, coordinate emergency oil stockpiling across Asia, and balance consumer-producer relations against economic coercion. Under this strategic vision, Japan aims to promote its unique leadership model, affectionately termed “Power Asia.”
Furthermore, the Japanese leader will pitch a pioneering joint framework for G7 nations to systematically stockpile critical minerals and ensure mutual supply line linkages.
Emphasizing a strong Indo-Pacific perspective, Takaichi stressed that she is eagerly looking forward to participating in intensive, transparent, and rules-based global trade discussions with fellow world leaders to solve recurring international emergencies.
