The Koppal Municipal Corporation has decided to regularise unauthorised water pipe connections as per the District Collector’s order. The move allows citizens to legalise illegal pipes by paying a one-time fine of Rs. 5000 and the current water tax of Rs. 2160 for the year. Officials said this step will increase municipal income and bring unauthorised connections under official records. Koppal Municipal Commissioner Manjunath Gundur said that illegal pipe connections will be disconnected if not regularised and legal action will be taken under the Karnataka Municipal Act.
