Shivamogga
Members of the Jayakarnataka Janapara Vedike have submitted a memorandum through the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) to the Senior Superintendent of Police in Shivamogga, demanding strict action against Shivamogga rural police constable Eresh Babu over serious criminal allegations.
The activists alleged that a case has been registered against the constable under charges of sexual harassment, rape and cheating, and that an FIR has already been filed. They welcomed the registration of the case, stating that police authorities have acted without bias despite the accused being a serving constable.
However, the petitioners claimed that the accused is misusing his official position to influence the investigation and attempting to destroy evidence related to the case. They further alleged that he has been spreading false information and defaming the victim, which they described as an abuse of power and a grave violation of law.
The group expressed concern over the safety of the survivor, stating that she is living under fear and requires immediate protection. They demanded that adequate security be provided to her to ensure her safety during the investigation process.
In order to establish the truth, the activists also urged authorities to conduct narco-analysis tests on both the accused and the victim, stating that such measures would help bring clarity to the case. They insisted that the investigation must be fair, transparent and free from any influence.
The memorandum was submitted in the presence of several representatives, including district president Suresh Shetty and state committee member Raghurveer Singh, along with other members of the organisation.
The group urged senior police officials to take immediate disciplinary action and ensure that justice is delivered without delay, emphasizing that public trust in the police system depends on impartial investigation and accountability.
