Collector said farmers are sowing due to good rains; officials must ensure timely seeds, fertilizers, fair prices, quality control

The District Collector, Dr. Suresh B. Itnal, held a meeting with officials to review preparations for the Chief Minister’s meeting on June 13. He collected details from departments about monsoon work, farming support, and rainfall across the district. Officials shared updates on sowing, fertilizer supply, and crop progress in all taluks.
The Collector said farmers are busy with sowing due to good monsoon rains and departments must support them quickly. He asked officers to ensure enough seeds and fertilizers are available and sold at fair prices. He warned against poor quality farm inputs and instructed strict rule enforcement. He also directed officials to inspect schools and Anganwadi buildings for safety during heavy rains. He asked them to prepare relief measures for possible disasters. Zilla Panchayat CEO Varnit Negi reviewed distribution of school supplies including books uniforms and footwear.
He asked welfare departments to report hostel needs and student numbers clearly. Agriculture officials reported rainfall of 159 mm compared to normal 112 mm this year. They said sowing has increased across seven taluks with maize and other crops planted. Fertilizer stock and distribution were reviewed with sufficient supply available in the district.
Officials said total fertilizer availability is 48,930 metric tons with large stocks in storage centers. They added that distribution will continue in coming days to meet farmers demand across all taluks. Officials said coordination between departments will ensure smooth monsoon management timely supply of farm inputs and safety of public infrastructure while continuous monitoring will be maintained by district administration.
