Equity mutual funds attracted net inflows of Rs 22,907.77 crore in May, according to AMFI, highlighting sustained investor confidence. The mutual fund industry’s assets under management reached Rs 81.58 lakh crore, while folios increased to 27.65 crore. Flexi-cap funds led equity inflows with Rs 5,175.54 crore, followed by small-cap and mid-cap funds, which together with flexi-cap schemes accounted for over 63 percent of total equity investments. Large and mid-cap funds and multi-cap funds also received healthy inflows. Hybrid schemes garnered Rs 10,560.24 crore, driven by arbitrage and multi-asset allocation funds. Index funds and overseas fund of funds gained inflows, while Gold ETFs recorded outflows. The data reflects continued retail participation and preference for diversified strategies despite market fluctuations, following strong inflows recorded in April across asset classes.
