Spice Jet faces GST demand, registration cancellation threat amid

New Delhi

Low-cost airline Spice Jet has been served a GST demand of Rs 124.65 crore by tax authorities for allegedly failing to file returns on time over several months. The demand follows a provisional assessment under the CGST and SGST Acts, 2017. Officials have also issued a show-cause notice proposing cancellation of the airline’s GST registration due to repeated delays and compliance lapses. The assessment includes tax demands for November through March. Authorities warned that further action could follow if pending returns are not filed promptly. Meanwhile, Spice Jet continues to face financial pressure, reporting a quarterly net loss of Rs 621 crore and declining revenue.
