D K Shivakumar supporters in Ramanagara celebrated reports that he may get chance to become Chief Minister as political discussions intensified in Karnataka Congress circles. They burst crackers distributed sweets and raised slogans in favour of D K Shivakumar in his constituency expressing happiness over the leadership change discussions.
Congress workers said Shivakumar has worked for many years and contributed to party growth and they believe his long service is now being rewarded. They also said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is expected to step down as per high command instructions and a lunch meeting with cabinet colleagues has been planned.
Supporters said they are ready to welcome Shivakumar if he becomes Chief Minister and more celebrations are expected in coming days across the region. Political observers said the situation reflects ongoing power sharing discussions within the party and final decision will be taken by the high command in Bengaluru after consultations.
Meanwhile supporters said they will continue celebrations and express confidence that leadership transition will bring development and strengthen Congress organisation in the state. Party leaders have not officially confirmed any change and all decisions are awaited while Siddaramaiah continues to attend scheduled meetings in Bengaluru.
The celebrations in Ramanagara highlight strong support among workers for Shivakumar and growing anticipation over possible leadership change in Karnataka Congress politics. Security arrangements remained normal and police said no untoward incidents were reported during celebrations in the city and surrounding areas. Officials said monitoring will continue and citizens have been advised to maintain peace and follow guidelines during any future public gatherings across the region.
