Shreelatha Thantri (26), from Punaroor in Kinnigoli, Karnataka, died on May 24 after remaining in a coma for several months following a road accident in Dubai last November. She was working in Dubai when the accident caused severe injuries, after which she was hospitalised and later transferred to Mangaluru for continued treatment. Despite prolonged medical care, she did not regain consciousness and passed away. A trained Bharatanatyam and Yakshagana artiste and television anchor, she is survived by her mother and sister. Her body was brought back to her hometown for final rites, where family and residents paid their respects. Locals expressed condolences and remembered her artistic contributions to the community.
