Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent five-nation diplomatic tour has helped India secure an investment pipeline worth nearly $40 billion, according to government officials.

The visit witnessed several multinational corporations announcing fresh investments and expansion plans across sectors including semiconductors, infrastructure, logistics and technology.

During the tour, PM Modi met chief executives and senior officials from more than 50 global companies. Officials stated that the combined market valuation of these firms ranges between $2.7 trillion and $3 trillion, highlighting the scale of corporate engagement during the high-profile visit.

Many of these companies already operate extensively in India, with their cumulative investments and business exposure in the country estimated at nearly $180 billion. Government officials said several firms expressed interest in expanding operations in India, citing strong economic growth, policy stability and rising domestic consumption as key attractions.

Among the major developments, the United Arab Emirates committed fresh investments worth nearly $5 billion in India. Officials added that the total value of new investment commitments and proposed business expansion plans discussed during the visit reached approximately $40 billion.

PM Modi’s five-country tour included visits to the UAE, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and Italy. During the trip, India signed several agreements aimed at strengthening cooperation in trade, defence, clean energy, artificial intelligence and advanced technologies.

India and the Netherlands unveiled a strategic partnership roadmap focusing on semiconductors, green hydrogen and technology collaboration. India and Sweden elevated bilateral relations to a strategic partnership, while PM Modi also attended the third India-Nordic Summit in Norway and held meetings with Nordic leaders.

In Italy, India and Italy announced a Special Strategic Partnership following discussions between PM Modi and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. In a post on X, PM Modi described the Italy visit as “very productive” and said the upgraded partnership would add fresh momentum to bilateral cooperation and economic engagement between the two nations.
