In a major boost to regional connectivity, Star Air will commence direct flight services between Bidar and Bengaluru from June 1, District In-charge Minister Eshwar B Khandre announced.

The new air service is expected to significantly improve travel convenience for passengers from the Kalyana Karnataka region, offering a faster and more efficient link to the state capital.

As per the announced schedule, the flight will depart from Bengaluru at 6:30 am and arrive in Bidar at 7:45 am. The return flight from Bidar will take off at 8:15 am and reach Bengaluru by 9:30 am, providing same-day travel options for business and official passengers.

The minister said the initiative was made possible with support from Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, cabinet colleagues, and the Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board (KKRDB), along with cooperation from various government departments.

Officials believe the new air route will help improve economic activity, boost tourism, and strengthen administrative connectivity between Bidar and Bengaluru. It is also expected to benefit students, professionals, and business travellers who frequently commute between the two cities.

Local leaders have welcomed the move, stating that improved air connectivity will contribute to the overall development of Bidar district, which has long faced infrastructure and accessibility challenges.

Authorities said further efforts are underway to expand regional air connectivity under state and central aviation development schemes, with a focus on improving access to remote and underserved districts.

The launch of the Bidar–Bengaluru flight is seen as a significant step toward integrating northern Karnataka more closely with the state’s economic and administrative hub.
