Axiscades Aerospace Infrastructure Private Limited, a Bengaluru-based aerospace and defence company, has proposed an investment of Rs 6,000 crore in Karnataka to establish large-scale aerospace, defence and advanced technology infrastructure, Industries Minister M. B. Patil said on Thursday.

Speaking after an extensive meeting with senior company officials at Khanija Bhavan, the Minister said the proposed investment would be made in phases and is expected to generate nearly 20,000 direct and 54,000 indirect employment opportunities in the State.

According to Patil, the company plans to establish an integrated manufacturing, testing and maintenance hub spread across 200 acres. The facility will focus on aerospace, defence, semiconductors and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based innovation.

He said the company also intends to set up a research and development centre in collaboration with global partners to strengthen domestic capabilities in advanced technologies.

“The proposed project will significantly boost Karnataka’s position in aerospace and defence manufacturing while creating thousands of jobs,” the Minister said.

The project will include infrastructure related to missile manufacturing facilities, radar and sensor systems, and Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facilities for fighter aircraft.

Officials said the investment would be implemented in three phases. In the first phase, the company plans to invest Rs 1,290 crore, followed by Rs 2,898 crore in the second phase and Rs 1,512 crore in the third phase.

The company has requested land near Devanahalli for the project. Representatives of the firm expressed interest in locating the proposed unit close to the existing aerospace ecosystem in the Devanahalli region.

The company has also proposed construction of a 1.8-km runway to support aerospace operations. During discussions, Hassan, Vijayapura and Shivamogga airports were suggested as possible locations for runway-related infrastructure.

Following the request, the Minister instructed officials to identify a suitable location for the runway and expedite the process of evaluating land availability.

Senior officials who attended the meeting included Principal Secretary of the Commerce and Industries Department Dr. N. Selvakumar, Industries Commissioner Khushboo Goyal, Infrastructure Department Secretary Vishal, Technical Adviser Arvind Galgali and Axiscades Managing Director Sharadhi Chandra Babu.
