Guj Waqf Board sets strict portal registration deadline

Intro: All local institutions should complete mandatory UMEED portal registration by May 26, it stated

GANDHINAGAR

The Gujarat State Waqf Board has issued an urgent appeal to all administrators, trustees, and institutions across the state to complete their mandatory registration on the UMEED portal by May 26. The board emphasized that this serves as the final deadline, warning that no further time extensions will be granted under the current legal framework.

To facilitate smooth compliance, the board has activated a dedicated helpline to offer technical and procedural support during the digital enrollment process. This statewide drive is part of a larger national initiative introduced by the Ministry of Minority Affairs.

The Unified Waqf Management, Empowerment, Efficiency and Development (UMEED) portal functions as a single national database designed to centralize and digitize ownership, income, and administrative records.

Launched to improve transparency and prevent illegal encroachments, the platform uses advanced features like geo-tagging, property surveys, and digital lease tracking. Board officials noted that this unified digital layout is a major structural reform aimed at replacing fragmented local files, ensuring long-term asset protection, and significantly cutting down property disputes.

Despite multiple previous advisories, a large number of local Waqf bodies in Gujarat have still not completed their profiles. The state board warned that institutions failing to register by the fast-approaching deadline will face serious administrative hurdles and legal complications. Trustees have been strictly advised to upload all authentic property documents immediately and avoid submitting incomplete applications to prevent facing individual penalties for non-compliance.
