Blurb: The secured land will be conserved for industrial estates, educational institutions, and public infrastructure
GUWAHATI
In a bid to secure future infrastructure development, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the state government has launched a massive, detailed assessment of government land surrounding Guwahati.
The strategic initiative aims to create a dedicated land bank to house future educational institutions, public facilities, and industrial estates.
Speaking to reporters during a high-profile inspection of the Jagiroad Assembly constituency, Sarma revealed that large pockets of state-owned land have already been mapped out in the Dharamtul area and its neighboring zones. The Chief Minister personally surveyed a massive parcel of nearly 300 bighas of government land to ensure it is securely cordoned off from illegal encroachment and haphazard private development.
Accompanied by senior state officials, Sarma explained that the intense pressure from real estate expansion prompted this sudden push to secure state property. Jagiroad has increasingly become a focal point for economic activity, especially following recent state infrastructure projects aimed at boosting Central Assam.
Concluding his brief interaction, Chief Minister Sarma explicitly refused to answer any political queries, stating firmly that with the election cycle now behind them, his administration’s absolute focus will remain on governance, economic growth, and development.
