‘India-Netherlands RE tie to boost clean energy Innovation’

Intro

‘The two countries would open new economic opportunities while reinforcing India’s commitment towards sustainable growth, energy security and a cleaner future’

New Delhi

Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi on Sunday highlighted the growing cooperation between India and the Netherlands in the fields of renewable energy, green hydrogen and energy transition.
In a post shared on social media platform X, Joshi said that collaboration between the two countries would open new economic opportunities while reinforcing India’s commitment towards sustainable growth, energy security and a cleaner future.

He emphasized that the partnership would play an important role in accelerating the transition towards cleaner sources of energy and reducing dependence on fossil fuels.

According to the minister, cooperation in renewable energy and green hydrogen would help both nations exchange expertise and promote industrial partnerships in emerging sectors linked to clean energy development. He noted that the partnership aligns with India’s larger vision of becoming a leading player in the global clean energy market.

As part of the cooperation framework, India and the Netherlands will establish a Joint Working Group on Renewable Energy. The group will conduct regular meetings to exchange best practices, share experiences and improve understanding of each other’s industrial ecosystems. The initiative is expected to encourage collaboration in areas such as green hydrogen, bioenergy, bio-chemicals, circular feedstocks, renewable energy technologies and battery storage solutions.

Both countries have also agreed to jointly prepare an action plan focused on renewable hydrogen development. A major highlight of the partnership is the proposed creation of a green corridor between India and the Netherlands. The corridor is expected to strengthen clean energy trade links and support India’s plans to become a major exporter of green hydrogen to European markets.

In addition to renewable energy cooperation, India and the Netherlands will also work together on climate-related initiatives through another Joint Working Group dedicated to climate adaptation and mitigation. The partnership aims to promote the exchange of technology, knowledge and best practices for addressing global climate challenges and supporting sustainable environmental development.
