Police have uncovered a rising trend of criminals disguising themselves as street vendors to identify and rob homes at night. Investigations by Malamaruti police revealed that suspects posed as flower, fruit, and vegetable sellers during the day, scouting locked houses and studying residents’ routines before committing burglaries. In one major case, multiple accused were arrested and jewellery worth over ₹64 lakh was recovered, with links to several theft incidents. Another accused from Delhi was also caught in a separate house burglary case involving ₹44 lakh worth of gold. Authorities have also warned about children being used for chain-snatching in crowded public places, raising serious safety concerns.
