A 19-year-old biker died while his friend sustained serious injuries after their motorcycle lost control near Vidyanagar on the Bengaluru-Ballari Road late Monday night. The deceased was identified as Lakshay Kumar, a resident of HRBR Layout in Banasawadi. According to police, Lakshay was taking his friend on a late-night ride from the limits of the Chikkajala Traffic Police Station towards Devanahalli airport when the accident occurred. Lakshay died on the spot due to severe injuries, while the pillion rider was hospitalised. Police cited overspeeding, drunken driving and reckless late-night rides as frequent causes of accidents on the stretch.
