Students urged to use college opportunities wisely: Fr. Ferdinand

Students should make full use of opportunities available during college life and actively participate in extracurricular activities along with academics to build a successful future, said Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves, Correspondent of Milagres College Kallianpur.

He was speaking while presiding over the College Day celebration held at the Tri-Centenary Hall of Milagres Educational Institutions in Kallianpur. He said the college years are a crucial phase in shaping a student’s future and urged students to utilise every platform provided to develop their talents.

Fr. Gonsalves emphasized that in today’s technology-driven era, students should avoid wasting time and instead focus on gaining knowledge and staying informed. He added that participation in extracurricular activities along with academic studies helps in overall personality development and future success.

Kavitha K.R., Joint Director of the Mangaluru Regional Office of the Department of Collegiate Education, highlighted the importance of social awareness along with academic learning. She appreciated Milagres College for instilling values among students.

Shika Shetty, Manager of the Blind Cricket Association of India and alumna of the institution, along with Fr. Melvin Mendonca, Principal of Milagres PU College, conveyed their best wishes.

College Principal Dr. Vincent Alva presented the annual report and felicitated achievers among staff and students. Various endowment awards were also distributed to meritorious students during the programme.

Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves, who has been serving as Correspondent of the college and is set to be transferred soon, was also felicitated by the institution in recognition of his service.

The programme also saw the handing over of a rhythm pad instrument donated by the Alumni Association for blind artists, highlighting the institution’s inclusive initiatives.
