Cricket expert Aakash Chopra has hailed Mitchell Marsh’s explosive batting after the opener smashed a record-breaking century to lead Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to a tense nine-run victory. In a rain-hit match reduced to 19 overs, Marsh turned the game into a personal highlight reel, scoring 111 runs off just 56 deliveries.
His incredible innings included nine fours and nine towering sixes, reaching his hundred in only 49 balls. This feat officially stands as the fastest century ever recorded by an LSG player in IPL history. Chopra was particularly impressed by how Marsh handled fellow Australian star Josh Hazlewood, using his height and strength to dominate the world-class fast bowler.
“The way he took down Hazlewood was brilliant,” Chopra noted, explaining that Marsh’s ability to hit straight over the bowler’s head makes him nearly impossible to bowl to. He added that if bowlers try to shorten their length, Marsh is equally dangerous with his square cuts and pulls.
While Marsh celebrated his success, the match raised serious questions about Hazlewood’s current form. The pace spearhead struggled for the second game in a row, conceding 49 runs. This follows a previous outing where he leaked 56 runs without taking a wicket. Chopra pointed out a worrying trend for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), suggesting that when their lead bowler fails to contain runs, the team’s chances of winning take a massive hit, leading to their second consecutive loss.
