Rev. Denis D’Sa takes charge as parish priest of Mother of Sorrows Church, Udupi, in formal ceremony

Rev. Denis D’Sa officially assumed charge as the new Parish Priest of Mother of Sorrows Church during a solemn ceremony held in Udupi. The occasion marked an important moment for the parish community as parishioners gathered in large numbers to welcome their new spiritual leader and bid farewell to the outgoing parish priest.
Fr Denis D’Sa was transferred from St. Anne’s Church, where he had been serving as Parish Priest. Upon his arrival at the Udupi church, he was warmly received by outgoing Parish Priest Rev. Charles Menezes, Parish Vice President Maxim D’Souza, members of the parish council, and faithful of the church.
The official charge-taking ceremony was conducted by Rev. Steven D’Souza, Chancellor of the Diocese, who represented the Bishop during the proceedings. Special prayers and blessings were offered for the new parish priest as he began his pastoral responsibilities at one of the prominent churches in the region.
Several priests, religious leaders, and dignitaries from neighboring parishes attended the programme and extended their wishes to Fr Denis D’Sa. Among those present were Rev. J.B. Saldanha of Puttur Church, Assistant Parish Priest Rev. Leo Praveen D’Souza, Principal of St. Mary’s Schools Rev. Vijay D’Souza, Rev. George D’Souza of Moodubelle Church, Rev. Stephen Rodrigues, Rev. Anil D’Souza of Udyavara Church, Rev. Henry Mascarenhas of Thottam Church, retired priest Rev. William Martis, and Rev. Alwyn, editor of Uzwad Fortnightly.
Meanwhile, Rev. Charles Menezes, who had been serving as Parish Priest of Mother of Sorrows Church, has been transferred as Parish Priest of Our Lady of Health Church. Parishioners expressed appreciation for his dedicated service and welcomed Fr Denis D’Sa with prayers and goodwill as he begins his new mission in Udupi.
