JDS Youth Wing State President Nikhil Kumaraswamy has written to the Union Government demanding that Railway Department examinations also be conducted in Kannada. He shared details of the letter on his X account on Friday. Nikhil objected to departmental promotion examinations in South Western Railway being conducted only in Hindi and English, stating that the move was unfair to Kannada-speaking employees. He said Kannadiga railway staff were being disadvantaged due to the absence of Kannada as an examination language. He stated that letters had been sent to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna urging implementation of the Railway Board’s August 2024 order allowing regional languages, including Kannada, in examinations.
