Udupi police arrested two individuals for illegally transporting cattle in a goods vehicle near Pakkalu Hebbaru bridge in Hiriyadka on Thursday. The accused, identified as Suhas (21) and Lava Shetty (64), were reportedly moving four cattle in a tempo from Perdoor towards Hiriyadka, allegedly intended for slaughter at an abattoir. According to police, the driver lost control of the vehicle near the bridge, causing it to veer off the road and fall into a roadside drain. Following the incident, officers reached the spot, apprehended both suspects, and rescued the cattle. A case has been registered at Hiriyadka police station, and further investigation is underway to trace possible links and verify the transport network involved in the illegal activity.
