IAS officer Puvitha S. formally assumed charge as the new Deputy Commissioner of Raichur district on Wednesday evening, marking a key administrative transition in the district. Outgoing Deputy Commissioner Nitish K. handed over the charge and extended his best wishes to her.
After taking charge, Puvitha S. expressed pride in being posted to the historic Raichur district, stating that it is an important opportunity to serve the people of the region. She said that her administration would give top priority to addressing pressing local issues while ensuring the continuity of ongoing developmental works initiated by the previous Deputy Commissioner.
She also emphasized that special focus would be placed on the welfare and development of women and children in the district. Calling for collective participation, she sought the cooperation of public representatives, officials, and citizens to ensure overall progress and effective implementation of government programmes.
Puvitha S. belongs to the 2016 Karnataka cadre of the Indian Administrative Service and is originally from Tamil Nadu. She completed her probationary training in Udupi district. Over the course of her career, she has served in several key administrative positions including Assistant Commissioner in Tiptur, Chief Executive Officer of the Zilla Panchayats in Chikkamagaluru and Chamarajanagar, Joint Director at the Administrative Training Institute in Mysuru, and Managing Director of KUIDFC in Bengaluru.
The charge-taking ceremony was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Shivanand, Assistant Commissioner Hampanna Sajjan, Tahsildar Suresh Marma, and several other district officials. The event concluded with officials expressing confidence in her leadership for strengthening governance and development initiatives in Raichur district.
