VIJAYAPURA
A petition was submitted to District Collector Dr. Anand K. and BSNL senior officials in Bengaluru by farmer and Dalit organisations along with Aam Aadmi Party leaders demanding action against a BSNL official over alleged violation of government conduct rules during birthday celebrations at the office and disrespect shown to Dr B R Ambedkar. Leaders said the Deputy General Manager of BSNL Vijayapura allegedly celebrated his birthday inside the government office which they claimed violated rules and also hurt sentiments during Ambedkar Jayanti events.
They further alleged that a portrait of Dr Ambedkar was placed near the footpath area of the office while the official birthday celebration was held in an air conditioned hall inside the same premises which they termed disrespectful Activists from Akhand Karnataka Raitha Sangh Aam Aadmi Party Dalit Sangharsh Samiti and Valmiki organisations submitted a memorandum to the Collector and also staged a protest outside the BSNL office demanding suspension and legal action against the concerned officer They stated that such acts undermine the respect of Dr B R Ambedkar who is regarded as the architect of the Constitution and appealed for strict disciplinary action.
Officials and party representatives including Bhogesh Solapur Basavaraj Siddapur and others were present during the submission of the petition and urged authorities to take immediate action in Vijayapura.
