RAMANAGARA
A 15-year-old boy in Channapatna town of Ramanagara district died by suicide after consuming poison following a family dispute over his relationship with an older woman. The incident occurred in Rajakempegowda locality and came to light on May 4 after earlier treatment attempts failed and the boy passed away on May 4, 2026. According to police the boy had fallen in love with a 26-year-old woman named Shobha from Bidadi and his parents had objected due to the age difference and advised him to end the relationship. Despite this the boy reportedly continued contacting her through social media platforms such as WhatsApp and Instagram which created further tension at home.
He had earlier attempted suicide on April 29 after an argument and was first treated at Channapatna Taluk Hospital before being shifted to a private hospital in Bengaluru for advanced care. However he died on May 4 after his condition worsened despite medical efforts. Following his death the boy’s parents lodged a complaint alleging that the woman was responsible and police have registered an FIR against her at Channapatna Rural Police Station.
Police said investigation is ongoing and statements are being collected from family members friends and others connected to the case to understand the circumstances leading to the tragic incident in detail.
