Copper theft reported at BRIMS hospital

A theft of copper materials from air-conditioning units has been reported at the Bidar Institute of Medical Sciences (BRIMS) hospital campus. Unidentified miscreants allegedly stole copper wires and pipes from nine AC compressors, according to a complaint filed by BRIMS Director Dr. Shantala Koujalagi. The stolen items are valued at about ₹4.5 lakh, while damage to equipment and infrastructure is estimated at nearly ₹ 35 lakh. Despite security measures including Home Guards and CCTV cameras, the incident went undetected. Authorities also noted repeated copper theft cases in the past year. A case has been registered at New Town Police Station and an investigation is underway to trace the culprits involved in the incident.
