Brahmin Sabha demands action over CET incident

KOPPAL

Members of the Akhila Karnataka Brahmin Mahasabha district unit submitted a memorandum to District Collector Dr. Suresh Itnal, demanding action against officials accused of cutting students’ sacred threads during CET examinations.

The organisation urged authorities to cancel permission granted to the two educational institutions where the incident reportedly took place. Leaders said the act hurt the religious sentiments of the Brahmin community and called for strict action against those responsible.

The Mahasabha also requested the allocation of a separate cremation ground for the Brahmin community in Koppal district headquarters. Representatives said the existing cremation facility near Gavisiddheshwar Math often becomes overcrowded, making it difficult to perform final rites according to community traditions.

District Collector Suresh Itnal assured members that steps would be taken to improve the present cremation ground and provide better facilities for the community in future ahead.
