CM said government aims equality, noted caste still exists, and emphasized reformers’ vision of rational, caste-free society

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah asserted that wealth and governance must be distributed equally among all sections of society, reiterating his government’s commitment to social justice.
Speaking after inaugurating the Sri Shivayogi Siddarameshwara Jayanti celebrations organized here on Wednesday, he said the government’s goal is to ensure equal share and equal opportunities for all. As long as an equitable society is not achieved, demands from marginalized communities will continue. The vision of social reformers has always been to eliminate caste hierarchies and promote rational thinking. However, that caste divisions still persist in the country.
Emphasising inclusivity, the CM said equal opportunities must be ensured for all deprived sections. Quoting Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, he highlighted that political freedom and access to education are essential to eradicate the caste system and enable social, economic, and political progress. The State government has implemented five guarantee schemes benefiting all 7 crore people of Karnataka without discrimination.
The governance today is guided by the Constitution, unlike earlier times when Manusmriti influenced societal norms. Ambedkar taught them that human beings must love one another and not hate.
Referring to the teachings of Sri Siddeshwara Swamiji, Siddaramaiah said people must earn through honest work and share their wealth equitably. The citizens to actively participate in productive activities and follow the principle of “Kayakave Kailasa” (work is worship).
Minister for Backward Classes Welfare and Kannada and Culture, Shivaraj Tangadagi, said government schemes are reaching the most marginalised, including the Bhovi community, due to the leadership of the Chief Minister. There is a need for the inclusion of the Voddar community under the Bhovi Development Corporation and to build Sri Siddarameshwara community halls in every district.
Religious leader Sri Immadi Siddarameshwara Swamiji described Siddarameshwara as a true “Kayaka Yogi” whose teachings remain relevant today. He also praised the contributions of senior writer Prof. S.G. Siddaramaiah, who was conferred the Kayaka Yogi Siddarameshwara Award for 2025–26 during the event.
Speakers emphasised the importance of education, unity, and self-employment, noting that government jobs can accommodate only a small percentage of the population.
Several dignitaries, including ministers, legislators, and senior officials, were present at the function.
