A horrific road accident between a water tanker and a motorcycle on the Subrahmanya–Mangalore highway near Savanur in Dakshina Kannada district claimed two young lives. The deceased have been identified as Jagan (20) and Yajnesh (21). Jagan, a hotel management student, had recently returned from Australia after an internship. The duo was returning home when their bike collided with a tanker at a curve. One rider died on the spot, while the other succumbed while being taken to hospital. Another bike rider also sustained minor injuries in the incident. Police have registered a case. In a separate incident in Mysuru, a 37-year-old daily wage worker, Mohammed Umar, was allegedly murdered near K.N. Pura. He was reportedly killed by having a stone slab dropped on his head. Police have launched an investigation.
