Star bowlers return to NZ squad

WELLINGTON

New Zealand has announced an ambitious nineteen-man squad for their upcoming Test tours, featuring the highly anticipated return of fast bowlers Kyle Jamieson and William O’Rourke. The team is preparing for a historic one-off match against Ireland in Belfast followed by a major three-game series in England.

Jamieson is back in the Test lineup for the first time in over two years. The towering bowler has spent a long time recovering from a serious back injury and was recently eased back into action through domestic matches. O’Rourke also returns from his own injury layoff, strengthening a pace attack that includes stars like Matt Henry and Ben Sears.

The squad features some fresh faces as well. All-rounder Dean Foxcroft earned his first call-up after a string of impressive performances in local cricket. Meanwhile, veteran batter Henry Nicholls has been recalled following a strong domestic season. Former captain Kane Williamson also joins the group, providing vital experience for the challenging English conditions.

The tour begins on May 27 in Belfast, marking the first time New Zealand will play a Test match on Irish soil. While the Ireland game is a standalone fixture, the following matches in England will be part of the World Test Championship. The team will be without Michael Bracewell, who is taking a break from the long format, and Jacob Duffy, who is staying home for the birth of his child. This tour represents a vital chance for the Kiwis to climb the global rankings.
