PUTTUR
Parents in Puttur are worried after a children’s park in Subrahmanya Nagar fell into poor condition due to lack of maintenance. Rusty swings, broken slides, and damaged ladders have made the park unsafe for children who visit every day. Parents say exposed iron rods and sharp edges could cause injuries if children continue using the equipment. The park was built about a decade ago using municipal funds and later upgraded with gym equipment and compound walls.
However, residents say no maintenance has been done for years, leading to its present unsafe condition. Children from nearby areas like Gopalpura, Laxminagar, Ambagilu, and Puttur visit the park daily, especially during holidays. Former ward member Jayanthi K. Poojary said complaints have already been submitted to officials seeking urgent repairs. Residents are urging the municipality to either repair or replace the damaged equipment without further delay. With summer holidays increasing footfall, parents say immediate action is necessary to ensure children’s safety. Municipal Commissioner Mahantesh Hangaragi has assured that the issue will be inspected and action taken soon.
Officials said the park will be inspected immediately and repair works will be prioritised to prevent accidents. They added that safety of children is a top concern and necessary funds will be allocated for restoring damaged play equipment so that families can safely use the park again soon without delay now officials said
