In Tirthahalli, police have launched an investigation after an unidentified caller allegedly threatened a court employee over the phone during working hours.
According to the complaint, the staff member received a call from an unknown number. The caller reportedly introduced himself as “Mangalamma” and accused the employee of taking ₹12 lakh from another person. The caller then allegedly issued a warning, demanding repayment and threatening physical assault if the money was not returned.
Shocked by the threatening conversation, the court staff member immediately filed a complaint with the Tirthahalli Police Station. Based on the complaint, police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the matter.
Officials said technical analysis of the phone number is underway to trace the origin of the call and identify the suspect. Cyber and telecom tracking methods are being used to gather details about the caller.
Police sources added that such threats to public servants are treated with seriousness, especially when linked to intimidation or extortion claims. They assured that necessary legal action will be taken once the accused is identified.
Preliminary investigation is focused on verifying whether the allegation mentioned in the call has any basis or if it was intended purely to harass and intimidate the staff member.
Authorities have reiterated that attempts to threaten government or court employees will not be tolerated, and offenders will be brought under legal scrutiny. The inquiry is currently ongoing.
