MLA said eye camps across Chitradurga with Shankar Eye Hospital provide free treatment ensuring no citizen left untreated
Chitradurga
MLA KC Virendra Pappi has said that eyes are as important as the heart for human life and everyone must take proper care of their eyesight. He urged people to attend free eye camps and get timely treatment for any vision-related problems.
He was speaking after inaugurating an eye donation and free eye check-up camp held at Little Angel Nursery School and English Senior Primary School in Ward 19 of Chitradurga city.
The MLA said similar camps have been organised across several villages in the Chitradurga Assembly constituency so that no citizen is left without treatment for eye problems. He said the initiative is being carried out in association with Shankar Eye Hospital, providing free medical services to the public.
He added that over 3,000 people have already undergone eye surgeries through these camps and around 7,000 people have received free spectacles. He said all services are being provided without charging money from beneficiaries.
Congress leader Anjinappa Kelgote praised the MLA’s efforts, saying that no other representative has conducted such large-scale free eye health programmes in the region. He said private treatment costs are high, but these camps are helping poor families access essential eye care.
He also appealed to the public not to ignore the free health camps and to make full use of the services provided.
District Guarantee Committee President Shivanna and Congress leaders RK Sardar, Wasim, Rahman, Jalil and others were present at the programme. Officials said similar camps will continue in the coming weeks across the constituency to reach more people in need of eye care.
