MANDYA
District officials have confirmed that there is currently no drinking water shortage in the Mandya Nagar Sabha area, but have urged citizens to use water carefully and avoid wastage during the ongoing summer season.
District Collector Dr. Kumar said precautionary measures are already in place to prevent any future water crisis. He gave this information during a meeting on summer drinking water management held at the city council hall.
The Collector said that officials have been instructed to regularly check water quality and supply levels from 585 borewells under the municipal limits.
He added that water is currently being supplied to 12 wards daily, while 23 wards receive water on alternate days. However, steps are being taken to ensure daily water supply to all 23 wards soon.
Due to rising temperatures, he appealed to the public to use water responsibly and avoid unnecessary wastage. He stressed that public cooperation is important to manage resources during peak summer.
Officials also proposed using 25 percent of municipal funds to improve and upgrade the city’s drinking water infrastructure.
The meeting also reviewed commercial infrastructure, where 126 shops built under municipal limits were discussed. Officials said verification of shop owners and documents will be completed before final allotment, with priority given to eligible applicants.
Authorities also said action has been taken against unauthorized advertisements in the city, and official advertisement zones will be strictly enforced.
Tenders for road development under the Chief Minister’s fund have been initiated, and works are expected to be completed soon to improve city roads.
Officials also appreciated staff for completing the first phase of the 2026 census work ahead of schedule, including household listings across 261 blocks.
The meeting was attended by MLA P. Ravikumar Gowda, municipal commissioner Pampashree U.P., and other senior officials who discussed ongoing civic works and future development plans for the city.
