Minister warned legal action for misuse of authority, stressed transparent counseling-based forest department transfers without external influence
CHAMARAJANAGAR
Forest Minister Eshwar B Khandre has ordered a detailed investigation after allegations surfaced that a zonal forest officer prepared a secret transfer list in the Bandipur Tiger Reserve.
The issue came to light in Bandipur Tiger Reserve after a handwritten list reportedly circulated on social media, claiming to show transfer postings of forest officials.
According to the complaint, the list was allegedly prepared by a Range Forest Officer and included details of officers to be shifted between different zones within the reserve.
The viral document has triggered strong reactions, with many questioning the transparency of transfer procedures in the forest department.
Minister Khandre said the matter is serious and directed officials to verify the authenticity of the document and examine whether it matches any official records or handwriting.
He instructed the formation of a probe team led by the Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (APCCF) to conduct a detailed inquiry.
The Minister also warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found misusing authority or damaging the reputation of the department.
He emphasized that transfers in the forest department are conducted transparently through a counseling-based system and should not be influenced by unofficial groups or individuals.
He said any attempt to manipulate postings through internal networks would harm administrative discipline and public trust.
Officials said the alleged list reportedly included posting details of several officers across different zones of Bandipur Tiger Reserve in Gundlupet taluk.
Meanwhile, the Minister also visited a proposed flyover site near Mysuru and reviewed tree removal issues affecting construction work, instructing officials to explore options for saving and relocating trees where possible.
Forest department officers accompanied him during the inspection and were asked to submit a detailed report on environmental impact and feasibility of the project.
Authorities said the investigation into the transfer list controversy will continue and action will be taken based on findings of the inquiry team.
