India to host first World Yogasana Championship

AHMEDABAD

India is preparing to make history by hosting the first-ever World Yogasana Championship in Ahmedabad next month. From June 4 to 8, the TransStadia arena will welcome elite athletes from over forty countries for a global competition that blends ancient tradition with modern athletic spirit.

The event, organized by Yogasana Bharat, aims to elevate yoga from a spiritual practice to a globally recognized sport. Official trials were recently held in Haryana to select the best talent for the Indian national team. These athletes will now undergo intensive training at a coaching camp in Ahmedabad to prepare for the world stage. Competitors will be judged on their precision, balance, and flexibility across various categories, including artistic and rhythmic yogasana.

Udit Sheth, President of Yogasana Bharat, stated that this championship is a “defining moment” for the sport. He noted that the vision, supported by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is to introduce yoga to the world’s youth and eventually see it featured in the Olympic Games. By creating a competitive environment, India hopes to show that yogasana is a gateway to a healthy and disciplined lifestyle.

As federations and officials from across the globe gather in Gujarat, the city is set to become the center of a movement celebrating India’s rich heritage. Experts believe this international platform will accelerate the global development of the sport, turning a timeless practice into a thrilling display of physical excellence and mental control.
