Border areas need stronger Kannada promotion says leader

kannada cultural revival

PAVAGADA

Katta Narasimhamurthy, president of Taluk Kannada Sahitya Parishad, said Kannada programs should be encouraged more in border areas where other languages have strong influence. He spoke at the 112th foundation day of Kannada Sahitya Parishad held at Guru Bhavan in Pavagada town. He said the foundation day is celebrated across Karnataka with great enthusiasm and reminds people about the importance of Kannada language.

He recalled that the Kannada Sahitya Parishad was started in 1915 with support from Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar and Sir M Visvesvaraya for the survival and growth of Kannada. He said today the organization has grown widely and is working in villages and towns to protect Kannada identity and culture. Prabhakar, president of the Kosha, said Kannada Sahitya Parishad is an important body that works for language, literature, and culture for more than a century. He said being part of the organization is a matter of pride for members.

Officials including IA Narayanappa, Pramod, and Nagaraju participated in the program. Leaders said border regions need more Kannada cultural events to protect language use among young people and encourage participation in literature activities in schools and public programs. They urged government and organizations to increase awareness programs, support local Kannada groups, and ensure that the language remains strong in border taluks through continuous events, education efforts, and community participation without delay.
