Pilikula zoo uses cool care measures now

Mangaluru

As heat rises across Karnataka, animals at Pilikula Biological Park in Mangaluru are getting special care to stay cool. The zoo houses more than 900 birds and animals, and officials noticed signs of heat stress during the summer. To help them, staff installed sprinklers, fans, and coolers in several enclosures and created small water pools for relief. Tigers, leopards, and other animals are also given regular water sprays to prevent overheating and keep them comfortable. Officials said the forest setting helps naturally, but extra steps are taken to protect animals from extreme summer heat. Spread over 82 hectares, Pilikula Zoo is known for conservation and breeding programmes across Karnataka and India. This summer, it stands out for using simple and kind methods to protect animals from the harsh heat. Sprinklers shade and water areas help make life easier for animals showing how care and innovation work together here at zoo.
