VIJAYAPUR
Member of Parliament Ramesh Jigajinagi has urged South Western Railway to provide a stoppage for the Gadag–Mumbai train at Indi railway station. In a letter to the railway general manager, he said Indi is an important commercial centre near the Karnataka–Maharashtra border. He noted that the town is known for lemon supply and export of grapes, pomegranates and other crops. He added that Indi has grown into a city municipal council and is a major trading hub in Vijayapura district. Farmers in the region grow sugarcane and other commercial crops, increasing transport needs. He said a train halt would help farmers, traders and businesses travel easily to Mumbai and improve trade opportunities. The MP requested railway authorities to consider the demand positively and take quick action to support regional development. Locals have welcomed the request and hope for early approval by railways authorities soon he said.
