More AC coaches added for Rameswaram express

MANGALURU

To help manage the massive summer rush, the Railways has announced that more coaches will be added to the popular Rameswaram Express. Starting this weekend, the weekly train connecting Mangaluru Central and Rameswaram will get two extra 3-tier AC coaches to ensure more passengers can travel in comfort.

This temporary update is specifically designed to clear the heavy backlog of travelers during the holiday season. According to a recent official release, the new coaches will be attached to the Mangaluru-end service from May 9 through June 27. Travelers coming from the Rameswaram-end will see the extra capacity starting May 10 and running until June 28.

With this new setup, the train will now be much longer and better equipped. The full lineup will include two 2-tier AC coaches, eight 3-tier AC coaches, and six sleeper coaches. There will also be four general second-class coaches for those traveling on short notice, along with necessary luggage and power cars.

For regular commuters and tourists visiting the holy city of Rameswaram, this news comes as a huge relief. The additional seats mean fewer people will be stuck on long waiting lists during the peak of summer. Railway officials are encouraging passengers to check the updated seating charts and book their tickets early to take advantage of the extra space. This move highlights the department’s effort to make long-distance travel smoother for everyone involved.
