Surathkal police have arrested Bahadur Singh, also known as Bahadur and Buyya, who was absconding in a 2014 murder case. He is accused of killing Sumathi Prabhu from Kulai Hosabettu on February 8, 2014, and stealing 192 grams of gold jewellery. Police say he and two others were earlier arrested and chargesheeted, and the trial was going on. However, Bahadur Singh got bail and disappeared six years ago. A special police team tracked him to Guramaranahalli village in Channarayapatna taluk of Hassan district. He was arrested there on Sunday. Police said he will now be produced before the court for further legal action. Officials said the arrest brings relief to the victim’s family and helps move the long-pending case forward in court proceedings in Mangaluru. Police also urged citizens to support law enforcement and report any information about absconding offenders without delay to ensure justice served.
