Bantwal
Vittal police have arrested a 26-year-old youth, Mohammed Asbeer from Kolnadu in Bantwal, for riding a scooter under drug influence and misbehaving with police during a checking drive. The incident took place at the Vittal four-way junction when sub-inspector B.S. Nayak and his team were inspecting vehicles. Police stopped his scooter, KA-19-HX-0497, as he was not wearing a helmet. During the check, he allegedly argued and blocked the officer from doing his duty. His behaviour appeared unusual, so police suspected drug use. He later admitted to consuming narcotics, and a medical test confirmed it. A case has been registered at Vittal police station under Crime No. 100/2026 with relevant sections of NDPS Act, BNS, and IMV Act. Further investigation is continuing. Police said strict action will follow as part of ongoing efforts against drug related road offences in region now onward.
