After Rohit’s stunning 84-run blast against Lucknow, Gavaskar believes the former captain is playing with a newfound freedom that could shatter the playoff hopes of rival teams.
The veteran opener recently returned from injury to lead Mumbai to a record-breaking chase of 229 at the Wankhede Stadium. Gavaskar noted that since Rohit stepped away from leadership duties, his entire energy has shifted back to his batting. This shift is turning him into a nightmare for bowlers, as he is no longer just providing quick starts but is looking to bat deep and dominate the entire innings.
“He’s focused entirely on his game now,” Gavaskar told reporters. He highlighted how Rohit dismantled the Lucknow attack, using his trademark pull shots and elegant drives to control the chase.
