BJP State President B. Y. Vijayendra on Saturday hinted at possible political changes in Karnataka, saying statements by Mallikarjun Kharge suggest discussions about a Chief Minister change in the state.
Speaking to media after visiting Suttur Math near Chamundi Hills, Vijayendra said there is speculation within Congress, with some leaders supporting Kharge while others backing D. K. Shivakumar for the top post. He said the situation will become clear in the coming days.
He also announced preparations for a major event marking the political journey of B. S. Yediyurappa in Chitradurga on May 9. Vijayendra said Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to attend, along with farmers, women, and religious leaders. He described it as a large gathering planned to honour Yediyurappa’s contribution to the state.
Clarifying that the event is not politically motivated, Vijayendra said it is being organised as a mark of respect and gratitude, not for electoral gain. He added that leaders like Govinda Karjol had expressed interest in hosting the programme in Chitradurga.
Vijayendra also criticised the Congress government, alleging lack of development and rising issues such as drug abuse in Mysuru. He claimed corruption and internal power struggles are affecting governance.
He further said upcoming by-election results could serve as a lesson for Congress leaders, indicating dissatisfaction within their ranks.
